Dalkeith Palace, Dalkeith Country Park, Via King’s Gate, Dalkeith, Edinburgh, Scotland EH22 1ST
An hour-long Historical Music and Dance performance telling the story of the famous visit of King George IV to Edinburgh in 1822, stage-managed by Sir Walter Scott, with music furnished by Nathaniel Gow. At the centre of the tale are the family of the Duke of Buccleuch, whose Scottish home became the royal base of activity.
The Edinburgh Quadrille Society, led by Talitha MacKenzie, will perform dances that were popular at the time, including dance music by British Abolitionist Ignatius Sancho, ward of the Duke and Duchess of Buccleuch, performed by early music specialist Tim Macdonald.
This spectacle, taking you back two hundred years in time, will be an entertainment for folk of any age.
